Titheneth Bio

When I was young, a great power rose in the east.  It was a creature with no name, a being without identity.  Even today, my people call it The Unnamed.  It enslaved many of the leaders of men, tempting them with power they would never have.  Thousands suffered and their life-light went out.  The king of Nunerorm sent for help and my kinsmen answered the plea.  My own brother went.

Then proceeded a great war of men and elves and The Unnamed.  Its own side was great.  For Its army, It delved deep into the earth where the corrupted lay dormant.  They had been subdued in the second age, the age of great upheaval, and half-conscious, they were trapped beneath the ground.  It lifted them back to a new life, cursed and cruel.  Their hearts enslaved to Its will, they fought for him, hardly showing fear.  Only the dwarves came to our aid, coming up from the earth where they had lived by choice, not banishment.

After a great many years, a weakness was discovered and one brave dwarf slipped through to the center, fooling the enemy, and destroyed them from within.  The army of the enemy soon fell to distress and confusion.  The enemy was defeated.  It disappeared.  Many men, elves, and dwarves were lost, as was my own brother, my twin.

Even for the Elves, to describe what the dwarf found at the source of It is difficult.  It erupted in great flames and died.  The charred remains still sit in the center of LuLith Mountain.  The dwarves guard it with great care and the elves are careful to protect it with great spells of peace to keep the place from attracting evil power once more.

Man has all but forgotten It, and speaks of it only in legends.  The dwarves speak of the war as a great victory.  But the elves have longer memories.  We do not forget quickly.  We wait for the day when It returns, for It was not destroyed.  It has only gone where none can follow, to await the day when It is again strong enough to defeat us.
